Mr. Mick Clare Valley Riesling 2023 10.5%
Mr. Mick Clare Valley Riesling 2023 10.5%
"a classy and totally inline riesling. Lemon zest, lime flesh, green apples and a lick of chalk. Everything here, everything good". James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Mr. Mick Wines is named after the late K.H. (Mr. Mick) Knappstein, an Australian winemaking legend and Tim Adams’ mentor and friend. Tim aims to continue Mr. Mick’s philosophy of making “affordable wines for everyone to enjoy”.
The wine is luminous, pale straw colour that glimmers in the glass. On the nose, it has lemon and lime juice and orange blossom aromas beautifully balanced by delicate floral notes.
On the palate, the citrus notes come to life with juicy lime and tangy grapefruit taking centre stage. The wine’s vibrant fruit flavours are balanced by a refreshing burst of acidity that dances on the tongue, contributing to a refreshing and lingering finish.
It is a pristine wine, which reflects a challenging, but great, 2023 vintage with cooler ripening conditions, that can be greatly enjoyed in its youth or will reward cellaring for a few years.
Chilled this is an excellent sit down with friends or over a lovely meal drinkable wine. So good I hardly have any left will definitely be ordering again.
Light but still with enough depth to bring flavour. Ideal with lunch or spiced nibbles!
I'm a big fan of the Tim Adams Riesling, and the Mr. Mick is very much in the same vein. I found it had a little less depth although I also appreciated the lower alcohol content (especially at lunchtime!). So if you like the TA, you'll also enjoy the Mr. Mick.
You will not regret buying/trying this lovely wine.
My daughter never drinks white wine. She claims to have disliked every white wine she has ever had. Mr Mick has converted her. She loved it even though she wasn’t impressed with other supermarket rieslings she tried subsequently. As she’s quite likely to raid my wine, I’m keeping the Tim Adams away from her just in case!
